According to an article in the New York Times, national home prices are returning to a normal level that is neither too high nor too low relative to fundamentals like income, rent, and inflation. Growth in prices is now at a sustainable single-digit level.  

This price stability is good news for consumers who are ready for a more rational market with greater long-term predictability.

Discussion of Walden at Chatham Community Library

The Chatham County Library is offering a free three-week discussion of Walden by Henry David Thoreau. The discussion will be led by Jeshua Pacifici, a former English professor at Virginia Tech, and will include reflective practices as well as literary discussion.

Apex Jazz Festival - September 20, 2014

The 4th Annual Apex Jazz Festival will happen on Saturday 20, 2014, in Historic Downtown Apex. Performances will take place at both indoor and outdoor venues, and a number of food and beverage options will be available including food trucks, pubs, a food court, and a Beer and Wine Garden. All ages are welcome, although the Beer and Wine Garden is restricted to 21+.

Visitor Spending Up in Chatham County

According to this article on the Chatham County website, visitor spending increased 6.3% in 2012 over the 2011 numbers, making Chatham County one of the state's top ten areas for growth in tourism spending. These figures were released as part of an annual study conducted by the U.S. Travel Association.

Million Dollar Home Sales Jump

Now that confidence in the overall housing market has been restored, luxury home buyers are moving into the million dollar home market now while prices are still relatively low.

According to this article on Bloomberg.com, Charlotte, North Carolina, is one of the cities leading the surge: with a 52 percent jump in million-plus dollar home sales in the first half of 2013, it's tied for third place with San Diego.
